Community Music Program

The Community Music Program (CMP) is an outreach effort sponsored by the University of Missouri School of Music to aspiring musicians in central Missouri. CMP offers opportunities for those who seek musical instruction purely for personal enrichment.

Experiencing Piano Group Classes

Experiencing Piano is the only program at MU that offers private and group instruction exclusively to young beginner pianists ages 6-9. Lessons are taught on campus by MU piano majors, and the program is supervised by Dr. Paola Savvidou, Assistant Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy.

Missouri String Project

The Missouri String Project has been a part of the Columbia community since 1973. The Project has a two-fold mission – to prepare University music students for their future as public school and private teachers, and to introduce 3rd-5th grade students to music by giving them the opportunity to study the violin, viola or cello.

Missouri Youth Orchestra Junior Strings

The Missouri Youth Orchestra was founded in 2006 by the University of Missouri’s School of Music to offer young string players a supportive and engaging group environment to further their musical development.
