MU is the host to several state and regional academic competitions throughout the year. Check out the links below for more information on how to participate and/or qualify.

Champion of Champions

This marching band competition gives bands the opportunity to compete against other bands to gain the title of "Champion of Champions," which is sponsored by the MU School of Music.

Creating Original Music Project K-12 Competition

The Creating Original Music Project (C.O.M.P) K-12 Competition provides students in Missouri schools the opportunity to write original works in a wide array of musical styles and to present these pieces to their schools and at a music festival at the University of Missouri-Columbia on April 20, 2013.

MU Homecoming Parade Competition

To participate in MU's Homecoming Parade, bands are encouraged to submit an application and fee to be considered to compete against other bands for this opportunity, which is sponsored by the School of Music.

Missouri Science Olympiad

The goals of Science Olympiad are to improve the quality of K-12 science education. These goals are achieved by participating in Science Olympiad tournaments and non-competitive events, incorporating Science Olympiad into classroom curriculum and attending teacher training institutes.

National History Day Contest

National History Day in Missouri, launched in 1980, is the state affiliate of National History Day. Each year, nearly half a million students nationwide—grades 6 to 12—participate in this innovative educational program. They conduct extensive research on historical subjects related to the annual theme and present their findings in one of five formats: exhibit, performance, paper, website, or documentary.

Robotics Design Challenge

The Robotics Design Challenge is an event for K-8 youth, where they build LEGO-robots with a variety of sensors, and program them to accomplish a given task.
